| 2. HISTORY It is the smallest barangay among the twenty-two (22) barangays and known for its fruit bearing trees of the citrus family that were called “BIASONG”, which grows abundantly in the area. It was said that in the past, women from the neighboring barangay came to this particular place to pick fruits of the biasong tree that they used as shampoo. When they were asked where they had been, the women answered that they came from this place where so many biasong trees grew. In time the place came to be called “BIASONG”, one of the six fishing villages in the City of Talisay. Biasong used to be a sitio of Barangay Dumlog, another barangay in the City. Biasong was converted into a barangay on February 14, 1985, due to its growth in population and income. Visitors come to Biasong as it has many suitable places for family gathering and business opportunities. It has beach resorts that attract lovers of the sea and seafood. Vendors of fish and seashells berth in its seashore. The business-minded individuals come for its many factories: sandals, shoes, slipper making, goldsmith, food processing and wrought iron. |
