I. FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT

The Department of Agriculture of the City of Talisay, Cebu, promotes agricultural development through enhancement of crops, livestock and fishery production, proper utilization of fishery resources, hilly land development, development of livestock industry and empowerment of agricultural sector (farmers and fishermen). Agricultural and fishery organizations will also be strengthened, for these are the venue and vehicle for people empowerment towards the fulfillment of the ultimate objective which is improved and self-reliant farmers and fishermen.

 


II. STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVE

The general objective is to assist agricultural and fishery sectors in the City of Talisay in the formulation and conduction of the different activities, programs and projects that would lead to agricultural and fishery development in the city.

Specifically, the Department of Agriculture of the City of Talisay envisioned for an improved living condition of the agricultural sectors, through the utilization of the transferred technologies, conduction of actual in-house and field demonstration of the different agricultural technologies, and the conduction of other related activities designed to achieve objectives.

 


III. PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES

A. Institutional Strengthening:

 

  1. 1. Conduct Community organizing particularly to farmers and fishermen including the youth and mothers which will lead to the formation of organizations, registration of these said organizations and renewal or revitalization of other existing organizations.

    B. Conduct Training / Seminars

    1. Updated Technology on Rice, Corn, Vegetables and Mango Fruit Production.
    2. Updated Technology on Livestock Production.
    3. PMES - Pre-Membership Education Seminar on Cooperative.
    4. Leadership training to Organization Officers and Leaders.
    5. Animal Health training for BAHA-Brgy. Animal Health Aide
    6. Seminar-Workshop on Crop Post Harvest handling and Marketing
    7. Seminar-Workshop on Ornamental Production, handling and Marketing
    8. Seminar-Workshop on Coastal Resource Management
    9. Seminar-Workshop on Meat and Fish Processing
    10. Seminar-Workshop on Backyard Nurserying / Nursery Development
    11. Seminar-Workshop on Cooking and Nutrition
    12. Seminar-Workshop on Household Level Garbage Management
    13. Seminar-Workshop on Hilly Land Development/Farming – SALT-Sloping Agricultural Land technology
    14. Seminar on Cattle, Swine, Goat and Poultry Raising

C. Conduct Technology Transfer through house, farm and organization visits

 

D. Conduct House to House, Farm to Farm and Barangay to Barangay Vaccination of animals.

 

1. Anti-Rabbies for dog
2. Hog Cholera for swine
3. HEMSEP – Hemorrhagic to Septicemia for cattle, carabao and goat.

 

E. Conduct Periodic Monitoring to BLBLP-Brgy. Livestock Breeding Loan Program and GMA – Ginintu-ang Msaganang Ani Projects:

2. BLBLP Cattle
3. BLBLP Carabao
4. BLBLP Goat
5. GMA Rice
6. GMA Corn
7. GMA Fisheries
8. GMA Mango

 

F. Conduct Treatment for the control of animal diseases, which includes Diagnosis of the following animals and livestocks:

 

1. Cattle
2. Carabao
3. Swine
4. Poultry
5. Dog

 

G. Conduct Monitoring on Fishery Projects and Illegal Fishing, more particularly at the Marine Protected Area

 

H. Conduct Catching, Impounding and Terminating of Astray Dogs

 

I. Conduct Castration of Animals (swine, goat, dog, and cat)

 

J. Assist Farmers in the Insurance of Animals and assist the same in the claims of died animals

 

K. Attend Seminars / Trainings, Symposiums, Provincial, Regional and National Farm Family Forums, and, other activities for the acquisition of updated technologies and Agricultural Information that could be used in service delivery of DA Office
